Audi AG is a German auto manufacturer headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria. Audi’s oldest predecessor, Horch, was founded by German engineer August Horch in 1899. The name Audi comes from translating Horch’s surname, which means “listen” in German, into Latin.

Volkswagen took ownership of Audi and its Auto Union partners in the mid 1960’s, creating the company that we know as Audi today. In 1980, Audi released the first Quattro, which became an instant success on the rally racing circuit due to its extremely effective all-wheel drive system. Various Quattro models continued to dominate the World Rally Championship series for most of the 1980’s, cementing Audi’s legacy as a leader in the design and manufacture of high-performance vehicles.
