Volvo Repair and Service
Volvo is a multinational manufacturer of automobiles based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo was originally a subsidiary of Swedish bearing company SKF. The name Volvo, which means “I Roll” in Latin, was registered by SKF in 1915 with plans to release a special series of bearings for the American market. However, this never happened and the name Volvo was instead used for the automobile company which began business in 1927. From the very start, Volvo set out to build cars that offered an unparalleled level of safety.
Volvo entered the North American market in 1955 starting with the PV444 model. They continued to grow their market share through the 1970’s and 1980’s, selling a record 113,267 cars in the American market in 1986. Ford purchased the Volvo brand from it’s parent company in 1999 beginning a long period of cooperation between the two companies.
Modern Volvo sedans, wagons, and SUV’s are known for solid-construction and exceptional safety features as well luxurious interiors. Known throughout the world for building safe, reliable vehicles, Volvo has developed a cult-like following. In March 2021, Volvo announced its intention to be an all-electric vehicle company by 2030, consequently investing heavily in EV and battery technology.
